Margygr est un terme scandinave pour désigner les sirènes mi-femmes mi-poissons du folklore médiéval. Margygr signifie «la géante des mers».

Créature féminine monstrueuse recouverte d'écailles de poisson, elle enchante les marins par son chant afin de les entraîner au fond de l’eau. Grande tentatrice pendant des siècles, son image s'est adoucie avec l'écriture du conte de Christian Andersen "La Petite Sirène".
